Love and Blind: A Visionary Design Approach

Sparkly Identity Design Team's Innovative Approach to Brand Identity

Unveiling the unique design concept of Love and Blind, a project that combines art, innovation, and social responsibility. This design by the Sparkly Identity Design Team offers a fresh perspective on brand identity, sustainability, and packaging.

The Love and Blind project draws inspiration from the Snellen eye test chart, a ubiquitous symbol in the world of vision. The design cleverly incorporates symbols representing sheltered workshops and their visually impaired employees. The orientation of these symbols towards different directions signifies the myriad of life paths available to the visually impaired.

What sets this design apart is its eco-friendly approach. The product packaging is made from recycled cardboard, fashioned into the size of a stationery box. This design encourages consumers to reuse the packaging, adding another layer of environmental consciousness to the product. The packaging also features two notches on the edges to stabilize the ribbon around the box, providing a flexible, low-cost, and environmentally friendly way to adapt the packaging to different occasions.

The technical specifications of the design further emphasize its eco-friendly nature. With dimensions of 215*77*52mm, the packaging is made from paper pulp molding and processed using laser engraving. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that the product is not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible.

The Love and Blind project is a testament to the power of design in facilitating social change. The project, which began in 2016, was born out of the recognition of the employment challenges faced by visually impaired individuals in Taiwan. With a general employment rate of less than 40%, the Taiwan Foundation for the Blind established diversified sheltered workplaces around the country that produce natural handmade soap. These workplaces aim to help visually impaired employees develop their confidence and autonomy in the labor market.

Despite the challenges, the Sparkly Identity Design Team was able to create a brand that empowers visually impaired individuals and promotes environmental sustainability. The brand concept centers on being natural, simple, and environmentally friendly, with applications both internal and external. Internally, it aims to empower visually impaired employees, while externally, it encourages consumers to support the cause and care for the environment.

For their innovative and socially conscious design, the Sparkly Identity Design Team was awarded the Platinum A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that contribute to societal wellbeing and make the world a better place.
